New technology transforms real-world locations into gathering nodes and players’ smartphones into harvesting tools

Players of the critically-acclaimed FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online have a whole new challenge to look forward to with today’s announcement of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO app.

GO, an abbreviation of Gathering Outdoors, quite literally adds a whole new dimension to the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online experience by allowing players to go outside and harvest natural resources from Eorzea™ in the real world. These can then be used to craft items and gear in-game.

“It’s about freedom”, says Haimirich Fischer, VP of Innovation at SQUARE ENIX®, “We wanted to empower over 10 million players to be able to gather wherever they want, whenever they want, without the restriction of their PC or consoles. By bridging the digital and physical worlds, FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO creates that freedom and fosters social interaction between the members of our amazing community.”

By downloading the app, players will benefit from the combination of Square Enix’s cutting-edge software and their smartphone’s own geo-location capabilities, as they are notified about harvesting nodes and natural resources in their area. When they get close enough to the node they tap their screen for a chance to harvest the resource, exactly like they would in-game.

Alongside the app, a unique accessory will be available for use in conjunction with players’ smartphones called the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO Harvesting Stick.

The Harvesting Stick turns a player’s smartphone into a miner’s hammer, botanist’s axe or fisher’s rod, allowing them to swing their phone in the real world like they would in-game to harvest resources. The Harvesting Stick also boosts a player’s harvesting success rate to 100%.

CHIMAERA, DESIGNED TO CREATE A NEW TYPE OF BLOCKCHAIN-POWERED GAMING WORLDS, ENTERS PUBLIC PRE-SALE

The new blockchain platform promises to be a major step in the future of decentralised autonomous online games

Since the rise and success of cryptocurrencies, there are many widescale, on-going attempts to use this innovative, open-source data base in different industries. But can gamers benefit from this? The Chimaera platform uses blockchain to create an entirely new method of designing online gaming universes with greater possibilities for developers and players alike. The platform just entered its public pre-sale on March 23rd and its creators promise to revolutionize in-game economies, asset ownership, community aspects, and even PVP competition.

Chimaera is a massive expansion of the idea behind the Huntercoin project that the team launched way back in 2013. Huntercoin was the first fully decentralized MMO game running on a blockchain. Players acquire huntercoins (HUC) by playing the PvP (player versus player) game. Now Chimaera is providing a set of tools to create DAUs – Decentralised Autonomous Universes. 

MMO games running on the Chimaera blockchain don’t require servers. With Chimaera, gaming accounts are unhackable, assets are perfectly secure, and trading is fraud-proof. Furthermore, in-game economies can be provably fair and open source, with both in-game currencies and/or items spawned in the game for players to compete for. These provably fair game economies are completely autonomous from external factors or interventions and players truly own their items and game coins. Combined with how Chimaera facilitates fraud-proof transactions, entirely new economies are possible.

Developers also benefit when they build on the Chimaera platform. It is readily integrated into games created with popular game engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine. The cost of servers, one of the highest financial burdens for developers of online games, is absent. The developer can also receive a fixed amount of currency produced in the game, set subscription fees similar to retail game purchases, and sell content or participate in asset trading. This opens the way for many new models of monetization.

However, perhaps the greatest benefit for developers is that when they create a game economy that benefits gamers with provably fair items and game coins, the economic incentive for gamers builds their loyalty to the game. Acquiring customers is extremely expensive for any company, so retaining existing customers is just good business. Further on that, when gamers can profit in a game, other gamers see that and will move to that game.

2018 EU Spring Finals are heading to Copenhagen – April 7-8, Royal Arena

Copenhagen 14th of March – The Nordic countries have produced some of the greatest players in both the EU LCS (European League of Legends Championship Series), and around the world, and for the first time ever, the European League of Legends Finals will be heading to Copenhagen. With more than 100.000.000 monthly players on a global scale, League of Legends is one of the most popular games globally. On the weekend April 7-8, the top four teams will battle it out for European dominance, championship points, and a place at the 2018 Mid Season Invitational. After one of the most exciting seasons in EU LCS history so far, the 2018 EU Spring Finals are not to be missed.  

Event Details

The European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS) Spring Split Final features the top 4 teams in Europe competing in the last round of playoffs. The 2018 season is divided into two halves, the Spring and Summer splits each comprising of 9 weeks of regular season and 3 weeks of playoffs. The 3rd place decider takes place on Saturday 7th of April and Finals on Sunday 8th of April in Royal Arena, Copenhagen

What’s on the line?

The winning team will be crowned the Spring Split champions, winning prize money and championship points. As the best team in Europe, they also qualify to take part at the first international League of Legends event of the year, the Mid Season Invitational, which will be held in Berlin and Paris this year.

The 3rd place team will secure a place at the 2018 Rift Rivals tournament being held this summer, which is a battle for dominance between the top 3 teams in Europe vs North America’s top 3.

“Surge of Elements” Update

Crusaders of Light’s latest update introduces the Elementalist class – spirit mages who control the magic of the elements and wield masterful control over wind, earth, water and fire to deal damage and protect allies at all costs. Like the game’s existing classes of Ranger, Warrior, Mystic, and Paladin, Elementalists have three different paths they can follow in their journey – Pyromancer, Cryomancer, and Conjurer – each with its own skills and advantages for the job at hand.

The update also introduces a new 10-person team raid – Wind Bluff Prison – offering players increased difficulty, a new dungeon to explore and the opportunity to bring down two new terrifying bosses. Players who have reached level 55 with a talent level 65 can participate for new loot and exclusive achievements, like titles for the first players to defeat the dungeon on each server. Along with the new class and team raid the “Surge of Elements” update will include new item sets: Molten Flames that can dole out deadly fireballs and Cleansing Chains that can shield allies.

Plus American and European Premieres for Eorzean Symphony Announced

LONDON (February 12, 2018) – Warriors of Light the world over are encouraged to embrace their innermost feelings as the seasonal event Valentione’s Day comes to FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online once more. The event, which is now live and comes to an end on February 15th, offers enamoured Eorzeans the chance to help out Lisette de Valentione and her retinue in exchange for a series of in-game items including housing furnishings and mounts.

 

 

Additionally, during the recent Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XLII broadcast, Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida revealed more about the highly-anticipated Forbidden Land, Eureka Anemos, a new locale that will offer Warriors of Light a new gameplay experience with a unique combat ruleset. Set to arrive in the world of Hydaelyn™ with Patch 4.25, The Forbidden Land of Eureka will also serve as the primary area where players may work to create and enhance the latest Anemos Relic Weapons.

NetEase Games’ MMORPG Crusaders of Light Coming to Steam in March 2018

Säsong 2 börjar visas nästa år!
Nu kommer nystarten för den ikoniska barnserien Thunderbirds i och med säsong två som kommer till nationell tv. Omlanseringen av serien har mottagits extremt väl av både allmänheten och media världen över. Den första säsongen är älskad för att den uppmuntrade till samarbete, visade hur viktig sammanhållning är och för de fantastiska animeringarna.

De fem Tracy-bröderna agerar från en dold öbas i Stilla havet med sina otroliga och högteknologiska Thunderbird-fordon i ett enda syfte: att hjälpa folk i nöd.
